The Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site marks the birthplace of this famed leader of the African-American civil rights movement in the 1960s. Dr. King was born in 1929 in an upstairs room of this two-story home, a site that is now visited by tens of thousands of people each year who wish to pay homage to the revered leader. Located adjacent to Freedom Parkway just east of downtown, the house is close to Butler Park.

Open daily mid-Aug - mid-Jun: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; mid-Jun -mid-Aug: 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
