Built in 2005, the Georgia Aquarium is one of the world's largest aquariums with over eight million gallons of water containing more than 100,000 fish and sea creatures. Visitors can examine stingrays, shrimp and horseshoe crabs in Georgia Explorer; walk under a river in River Scout; see sharks gliding through a large tunnel in Ocean Voyager; interact with penguins, sea lions and beluga whales in Coldwater Quest; and relax with tropical sea life and live coral in Tropical Diver. The aquarium also features a 4D Theater, which shows 3D films with special effects. Located on Pemberton Place in downtown Atlanta, the aquarium is north of Centennial Olympic Park, near the Philips Arena and CNN Center.
